Yes, it’s true that Amon has a point in that it would make everyone equal. And without bending, less wars and conflicts in the ATLA would deter for sure. But I don’t have a problem with Amon wanting equality. I have a problem with the way he is trying to achieve this equality. I’m sorry, but taking away something that someone was born with is majorly fucked up. Bending is apart of who they are. From being locked away in a compound, I feel like Korra is unaware of the struggle that non-benders have to go through in a world where the bending race is more dominant…. but even still, it doesn’t justify what Amon is doing.
Instead of putting down the bending race by taking their powers away, why not uplift the non-bending race? Have events and days that celebrate non-bending. Spread the awareness that non-benders are just as important as benders too. I mean look at non-benders like Piandao, Sokka, and Hiroshi Sato. They are all non-benders, yet they achieved so many great accomplishments without the use of bending.
Here you say that “Korra sees it as an evil act to take away someone’s bending, but then how does she see those that have no bending at all?” But I don’t think that she sees a person without bending powers as less of a person. I think she sees it as someone taking something that is apart of you against your will. And that’s just wrong.
