LMAO. Are you new to my blog or have you been missing out on all my posts on Zutara? You don’t even understand. I HAVE SO MANY FEELS FOR THESE TWO.
ASDFGHJKL;’
I am a Zutara shipper, and don’t get me wrong, I actually like Kataang. I just like Zutara more. YESSSSS.
They just have such a good dynamic. And I loved how their relationship progressed. They started out hating each other, but then for a quick moment they related because they had both lost their mothers, but then Zuko betrayed her and Katara was headstrong in never letting that go. She let her guard down around him, and it backfired. So she decided to never let her guard down around him again and not to trust him so easily. Then you have “The Southern Raiders” aka “The Zutara Episode”. Let’s start this episode with this gif:

He risks his life to save her and not only that…he lingers over her. Ughhhh.
Fast forward and now we’re at the scene where Katara finally gets her feelings off of her chest in this epic dialogue:
Zuko: This isn’t fair. Everyone else seems to trust me now. What is it with you?
Katara: Oh everyone trusts you now? I was the first person to trust you, remember? Back in Ba Sing Se. And you turned around and betrayed me. Betrayed all of us!
Zuko: What can I do to make it up to you?
Katara: You really wanna know? Hm, maybe you could reconquer Ba Sing Se in the name of the Earth King? Or, I know, you could bring my mother back!
Now I may be just a paranoid Zutarian, but I noticed that Katara mentions herself first. She goes on to say that he betrayed all of them, but at first she says “you turned around and betrayed me”. She feels the most hurt, which is the reason she can’t fully trust him like the rest of the Gaang does. And right after she says this, Zuko puts his head down in shame:

He then tries to seek the closest person’s to her advice— Sokka.
“Your sister, she hates me. And I don’t know why, but I do care what she thinks of me.” He caresssss.
Then Zuko notices that when they were imprisoned in the Crystal Catacombs (I’ll get to that scene later on) together that Katara mentioned her mother, and again when she was letting her feelings out. He concludes that Katara connects what happened with her mother with him. And now, for her, he feels the need to relieve her of the pain she has dealt with because of what happened to her mother.
AND OMG. HE EVEN WAITS UP ALL NIGHT FOR KATARA TO GET UP SO THAT HE COULD TELL HER THAT HE KNOWS WHO KILLED HER MOTHER:

AND SO THEIR ROAD TRIP BEGINS!!! Can I just say that they worked sooo well together while they were on their mission? I mean like, seriously, they were so coordinated for people who have never fought together (on the same side) before. And the way Zuko’s manner was when he came face to face with the person who he thought killed her mother. Tbh, to me it looked like he was prepared to kill him if Katara couldn’t. And when he found out that wasn’t the man who killed her mother, he pressed him up against the window to get some info out of him.
And alsooooo (again I could be reading a little too much into things), when Katara is at her lowest moral point, where she has reduced herself to use bloodbending, Zuko doesn’t look at her like she’s a monster. He looks at her in surprise because he didn’t know she had this much power. And did he question her about it later on? No. Instead he resumes their mission like nothing has happened.
Fast forward once again, and we’re at the point where they finally confront Yon Rha (wow… a character I hate more than Zhao). When Katara says that she just can’t kill him and walks away, does Zuko complain? Does he ever say that they spent two days looking for this fucker and that she wasted all of his time? No. He doesn’t.
And then you can’t forget the moment where Katara finally forgives Zuko and is ready to move on:

Basically my point about these two is that they understand each other. It’s so nice because they are so different, yet they are so similar. In real relationships, you’re not going to have every single thing in common. You have differences, which is what I like about the ship Zutara.
I love Aang and Katara’s love story, but Zuko and Katara have been through so much together and have had so many ups and downs… like an actual relationship. It’s not just rainbows and butterflies.
Let’s look at some more Zutara moments:
Crossroads of Destiny: Omg. Let’s take a look at this scene. In the beginning of this scene, Katara is basically yelling and mocking Zuko and Zuko is sitting down thinking something along the lines of “…this bitch.” It was until she mentioned losing her mother to the Fire Nation that he turns around and acknowledges her. He says, “I’m sorry. That’s something we have in common.” Later on Katara mentions that whenever she sees the face of the enemy, she imagines Zuko’s face. And Zuko’s all like ‘oh, you mean my scar’. Katara denies it, but Zuko knows the truth. He then goes on to express his feelings about his scar. Something he’s never really gone into detail about because it’s so personal, yet he shares it with her. Katara then suggests a way to possibly free him of the burden of his scar by using her special Northern Water Tribe healing water, and says that she’s “been saving it for something important.” She’s been saving it for something important, and to her, freeing Zuko of his burden seemed important enough.

And again… waddup with the lingering?
Sozin’s Comet Pt. 3:

And of course, you can’t forget the second time he risks his life to save her. MY HEART. MY FEELS. If I have to explain why this was such an important part of their relationship than I don’t know what I could possibly say to make you see the good sides to Zutara.
And I know that a lot of people who don’t ship Zutara hate the “Opposites Attract” cliche. But my thing is— Why do people only see them as opposites? I mean sure there is the official Zutara tagline “You rise with the moon, I rise with the sun” which enforces the fact that they are different, but they are alike in many ways.
There is nothing more I hate than when people say that Zutara is unnatural. What. What. WTAF. I understand all sides to why people don’t ship Zutara, but if you come at me with a dumbass reason like that without at least a decent reason, then idk why you even took the time to read this post, tbqh. That is the equivalent to “the age difference” reason for Kataangers.
Never in my life have I ever used the “age difference” reason to support why I ship Zutara. Obviously, Aang is 12 and Katara is 14 and a lot of people think that Zuko fits the “maturity” level for Katara more than Aang does. But if you come at a Kataanger with that reason, they will fuck your shit up. I’ve seen it first hand, lol. So pleaseeeeeee, if you tell me a reason that you don’t ship Zutara, I will respect it. But please do not use the “It’s just so unnatural” reason because that shit cray.
